Golden

A quiet day today, having been down to Hong Kong Harbour for the NYE fireworks alst night. Was really crowded, but very calm and friendly. Not exactly a party atmosphere, just lots of people out to see in 2017.

The setting was stunning, it was 20 degrees, and I didn't see a single drunk person - but there were a lot of children out to be a part of it. The whole thing felt very safe and well controlled (well, this is Hong Kong!)

It did take about an hour to walk back to our hote - usually a ten minute walk - due to the sheer volumes of people crowded onto the pavements, but it was good to be a part of the occasion.

Today therefore only started at lunch time (and a late lunch at that!), so we had a wander around the nearby Kowloon Park before heading to church for what turned out to be a great service. The park is next to Hong Kong's Mosque, and the Muslim community had spilled out into the park to have their new year festival, creating a sea of noise and colour.

Best pic of the day was this one from Kowloon Pier, with the golden reflections from the large buildings. Lone man gives persective.

Must get up at a more sensible time tomorrow.
