The Last Day
Back to Scotland for me tomorrow.
Junior is in Newcastle with friends to celebrate his birthday today. 23 years ago...
Here in sleepy Gaimersheim, the temperature crept up to -4⁰ after a low of -6⁰ around dawn. It’s a grey, foggy, damp cold. Not one to go out in unless it’s necessary. It will be shortly - Silvester/Hogmanay dinner at the Beckerwirt at 18:30
Last time we were there it was July and we ate outside...
Then meeting neighbours Hermine & Holger outside in the street at 23:55 (precisely) to scoof a bottle of Sekt and fire off some fireworks.
Quite happy to take it easy today after a busy day yesterday and a busy one to come tomorrow.
It’s a bit subdued around here as Dr D’s ex mother-in-law (and the Teens’ grandmother) died just after midnight. They’d stayed close after Dr D split up with her son. Anyway, Gisella had been in hospital for a week with terminal lung cancer and was ready to go (her words, not mine).
The Blip is something I found in my Christmas stocking - too heavy to put in my suitcase tomorrow. One of my favourites, from Pappenheim (pop 4,000) just north of here. A micro brewery which offers unfiltered and unpasteurised beers.
