Bringing up Bebe

Meet S my beautiful daughter in law who is expecting a baby early next year. S is from the US (my son J and she met in the most unlikely of circumstances in Cancoun nearly 6 years ago now). Anyway J and S are with us for a week here in France... and before coming here they were in the US with her family for a while and while they were there one of her friends gave her this book - Bringing up Bebe - the French way to bring up a baby.. which basically involves being quite strict with them and encouraging the child to fit in with the family rather than what she thinks has become the US way (I know this is an incredible generalisation) which is for everything to revolve around the child.. I must say that the French children we know are remarkable in the way that they stay at table for long meals and eat only at meal times and sleep through the night (well more accurately, get left through the night). so you can imagine there have been some interesting discussions... with my son saying how the child is going to be brought up.. we did comment that we should have recorded some of these conversations so that they can compare what they plan to do with their actual responses when the baby is born!!

Oh and the legs in the background are those of my son who was playing on a phone app while S was studying the potential upbringing of their future child!! (He is going to split logs today though!!)
