Pole

My biologist friend's pet. She was raising this tadpole that she found and she named it "Pole". Her previous tadpole was named "Tad". Get it?  XD

I met up with her for dinner during the summer, and was surprised to see her carrying her pet around, but there was a reason for it. The tadpole was close to undergoing metamorphosis into a frog, a stage which can happen abruptly and unexpectedly. When her last tadpole, Tad, was undergoing this stage, she left it for too long. By the time she had arrived home after work to check on Tad, it had already metamorphosed into a frog and died due to lack of oxygen (she kept it in a jar with a closed lid to prevent it from escaping in case he metamorphosed while she was gone). So when Pole was close to metamorphosing, she brought it with her everywhere she went. :)  I wonder how Pole is doing now...
