Filmland

How many faces,
Does one show at the same time,
Hidden behind masks.

A lovely day out in Eastbourne today with goods friends.  Despite having lived in Sussex for many many years, somehow I have never been to the Towner Gallery.   The visit was long overdue ... what a wonderful treasure right on the doorstep.  

Walking round the gallery, this painting kept calling to me ....  

It is "Portrait of Hugh Gaitskell as a famous monster of Filmland" by Richard Hamilton ... you can read more about it here.  I have to confess the political significance of it was lost on me, but it still seemed to resonate, especially given some of the political antics this year ....
