Almost New Year's Eve

The London Eye, 11 seconds before midnight, not as 2016 moves into 2017 but as the 30 Dec moves into 31 Dec. My sister C knew that they held a dress rehearsal of all the music and lights 24 hours before the real event and we made sure we were in place, just behind the control tent, as it all kicked off. There were very few people about but our little group of 4, and a few others, counted down the seconds, cheered, wished each other a Happy New Year and eventualy sang Auld Lang Syne!  OK, that's done, we can forget tomorrow!
Earlier in the day we had a chilly morning walking around London in the cold damp misty weather. Then my other sister arrived and we all went for a walk along the South Bank, over London Bridge and back on the North Bank. Harling Darling blipped the London Eye disappearing into the low mist.
C had booked us all tickets to Amadeus at the National Theatre though we didn't know what we were going to see until we swung into the National. I didn't see the play in 1979 and somehow I even missed the (1984) film. It is a really powerful play with several interlocking themes, and is both humerous and tragic, occasionally both at the same time! I found this production very powerful and gripping, and I was exhausted at the end.
Back "home" for a quick cup of tea and then out again for that New Year rehearsal.
