Bright lights
A day in the office with few calls or emails. Bit of activity around the honours list getting in touch with people; chance for a lunch for those of us in, then away sharp to avoid the road closures as the Hogmanay celebrations really take over central Edinburgh.
I headed into town to see the torchlit procession. It was meant to start at 7. At 9 there were still people snaking their way down the Mound, onto Princes Street and up to Calton Hill. With so many people, lots of opportunities to part people from their money were being exploited. The illuminated wands were on a bicycle and their intense light made an interesting contrast to the glow of the torches.
After a long wait the fireworks started. Had a good chat with a lady from south of Oban while we waited. The wait was worth it: 2 extras
