Record holder

Another fine day today and we spent the morning in the city centre. I queued up at the Minster for a Tower Tour, but after 20 minutes I had barely got inside the door to find that the queue snaked around inside and it would be a while before I got near the counter, so I squeezed out again. On the following day I was to regret doing this! I compensated by taking dozens of pictures of the building from the outside.

After lunch we climbed aboard the little 'Road Train' for a run to the National Railway Museum. I'd never been here before though the rest of the family had done so. By this time it was getting a little less bright and as the museum is largely lit by daylight from the roof, it was difficult to take photographs, but one of the better ones was of the 'Mallard', the wonderful Nigel Gresley A4 design which won the world speed record for a steam locomotive in 1938 at 126 mph.
