Crane Herding

I've already discovered that Norfolk can be a bit........different!  I didn't expect, however, to be taking part in some crane herding whilst on a walk today!!! G and I were on our weekly walk around Pensthorpe Natural Park followed by a trip to the supermarket. Whilst turning a corner to a wooded path, we came across a crane. It had obviously escaped from a nearby pen, and we were debating how to get past it without spooking it when a ranger drove up. He asked us to stand in strategic places whilst he got behind the crane and 'herded' it back through the gate.

I got some better shots of ducks on ice and of the woodland walk in fog, but wanted to post this shot as it was the highlight of the day and I've long since run out of extras.
