Bye-Bye

"Bye bye" Shout the kids.
But I'm not going anywhere.

"Bye-bye" (in English with a strong Thai accent) is the phrase Thais use for the action of waving. I would guess because it's a western culture action that has been adopted into life in Thailand.

So it's ironic when you wave hello to a kid, and her mom says "bye bye" as she picks up kid's hand and waves it at you.
