FLOWER FRIDAY
Still getting to grips with the new camera - but know that I need to persevere to get the best out of it. Rather difficult to find a flower in the garden today, but came across this little pansy - the only one in the container and it was rather bowed down, not only with the dew but also because of the very damp fog. It doesn’t get very much sunshine where it is, so perhaps we should move it so that the dew drops will dry and then it will lift its head.
We can sometimes feel like that - bowed down with the cares of the world - especially after Christmas when perhaps for some, meetings with family and friends wasn’t quite as we expected them to be or maybe we spent more than we should have done. But take heart, there is a New Year on the horizon and most of us don’t have to worry about where the next meal is coming from or whether clean water comes out of the tap and I would hazard a guess that no-one in this community is without a roof over their head.
Perhaps, rather than feeling sorry for ourselves, perhaps we should think about others who are much less fortunate and make a New Year’s resolution to help them in whatever way we can.
“This is the true joy in life - being used
for a purpose recognised by yourself
as a mighty one;
being thoroughly worn out
before you are thrown on the scrap heap;
being a force of nature
instead of a feverish selfish little clod
of ailments and grievances
complaining that the world
will not devote itself
to making you happy.”
George Bernard Shaw
P.S. Thank you so much to all those who left a comment, star or heart for my 1460th Blipday yesterday - I appreciated them all.
