My Owl Friend
I got up for sunrise today - and I wasn't disappointed. As I sat enjoying the view- with no binoculars or camera in hand I spotted our two friends from last night. A pair of Cape Eagle-Owls. I watched them for about 30 minutes until 5.50am, and I left the pair asleep in this willow tree. When the rest of the house awoke a couple of hours later the pair were still in the same place, still asleep.
I think I have to credit RTD with this photo. I borrowed a lens from a friend that is so big I can't keep it steady! I went in to fetch my tripod and RTD got this beauty.
We set off slightly later than planned due to owl excitement and headed south for a hike. Between one thing and another though we got to the beach before we got to the mountains. So, a swim it was, and a walk along the beach at Kleinmond. Again, once you got the sharks out of your head you could enjoy the dip in the shallows without too much worrying.
A bit of a long drive back, punctuated with some penguin and dassie distractions (see extras). On to our new home nestled under Table Mountain and right beside the Botanic Gardens.
