Te Awanga
A bit grey today and the first few rain drops of our trip. We started the day with a look around the Community Arts Centre near our hotel and took some photos to share with the Art Appreciation group back home. Very helpful staff there who couldn't do enough for us - recommending places for lunch and even phoning to see if there were still places on one of the trips. Nice.
From there we tried to go around a couple of the wineries and have lunch but it was all fully booked - note to self for next time. So, we drove up to Havelock North which had been recommended by my sister in law. Very pretty 'village' with lovely shops and eateries.
I was keen to get a view of Hawke Bay so we drove up to Te Mata Peak but unfortunately the light wasn't great and neither were my photos. Visited Elephant Hill winery briefly as it was very busy and then drove back along the coast road.
Back to Napier and another look around the town. Oh, and a very nice carrot cake at ChalknCheese near Havelock.
