Old faithful

Yesterday our cafetiere got broken, so we took the percolator out for coffee this morning. I don't know how old this is: it was my grandmother's and she gave it to us in the 1980s.

The pot came as a set with a sugar bowl and milk jug, and she took it to the shop for repair when it stopped working in the 1960s. It seemed to take ages to mend, as she went back a few times to collect it, but it wasn't ready. Eventually it was...however it had changed colour. When she queried it with the shop, they admitted they had broken the percolator, (it's made of some sort of porcelain/pottery), so they had replaced it with this one..."we thought you wouldn't notice"! The original was the colour of the sugar bowl :))

It still makes a great pot of coffee.

A very wild day weather-wise, with Storm Conor. We finished the wallpapering, just some tidying up to do tomorrow.
