Gotcha!
This mantis nymph was perched on the remains of a stinging nettle that has been eaten out by butterfly caterpillars. I struggled against the gusty wind to get a shot of it, while it seemed intent on something else. A moment later I saw what. The snack looks like a tiny solitary bee.
Poppy of the day in extra shot. Note the odd coloured honeybee. It has covered itself with green pollen from another poppy. They love to mess up the fresh poppies by buzzing in a circle around the anthers, kicking up a small dust storm of pollen. This might be a way of carrying extra pollen back to the hive.
