George Michael

Was really saddened to read last night of the death of George Michael; he was clearly talented but seems to have been a troubled soul.

I’m a big fan of his work; have all his solo albums and managed to see him live in concert twice. First time was almost in 1988 on the Faith tour; had the tickets, then the concert was rescheduled and we couldn’t make the new date (had a wedding to attend).

 Had given up hope of ever seeing him live when he then did his 25Live greatest hits tour in 2006 – was unlucky getting tickets as they sold out so fast, so for the first and only time bought them on eBay – so worth it. And more recently saw him in concert 4 years ago performing hits and old standards with a symphony orchestra – just superb. (Also saw him perform live in 2012 at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony).

Photo is of the programme from his Symphonica concert in 2012. After Bowie and Prince I wasn’t expecting to be blipping another one this year. Here’s hoping no more for a long time.
