The Main Shrine, Aylesford

Had a great day yesterday. The turkey turned out perfectly (even though I say so myself!) - the trick turned out to be 200ml of water in the roasting tin at the start and plenty of basting! I just had a great day - the cooking wasn't strenuous (the "incremental" approach to everything really works), my presents were all great and the regular but subtle introduction of various alcoholic beverages softened the edges rather beautifully. However, at about 6.30 I hit a brick wall and promptly fell asleep for about four hours!
Today started with a light jog (after a lie-in, of course) to try and lose a tiny fraction of the weight I've put on in December - two thirds of a stone and counting (oh dear!). Post exercise the only thing that helped was a nice glass of prosecco - ice baths are for loonies!
It was a really nice  sunny day today so me and my brother decided to walk up to The Friars (mentioned in quite a few previous blips) to light a candle for my late Mum. It's such a calming, gentle place to go to and it's also where today's shot was taken. I liked the contrast between the notice about the main shrine and the "workings" that keep the large Christmas tree lights aglow.
On the way back we popped into one of our village pubs for a pint and a chat.
One slight affect of Christmas is catching an old Top Of the Pops and picking up an earworm - in my case it's "Pipes Of Peace" by Paul McCartney. I can't stop humming and singing the bloody thing, it's become compulsive and very annoying!
Hope everyone else is having an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas holiday.
