Danegate Towers
Now in possession of my third "Wild" book- Wild Ruins, we went in search of the closest to us. On the private Neville Estate, these follies built in 1787 by Henry Neville the 3rd Earl of Abergavenny. He knocked down the family mansion and built a large Gothic Castle in the grounds of the estate and several towers to "enhance" the landscape . These two are not far from a public footpath so we sneaked over to them finding they were surrounded by brambles so the only way I could get a photo of both of them together was a collage . Unfortunately the castle is far with in the private estate and not visible to the public. We followed the viewing with a wet walk then back home for too much food,.
