Loch Tulla

So, there is a quickest way of getting from Fraserburgh from Kirkby Lonsdale - and it's probably pretty much the reverse of the way we came up, to be honest - but with a whole day to ourselves that certainly wasn't the route that we were going to take home.

With the Minx behind the map and me behind the wheel, we set off west, passing through Macduff and Banff, Portsoy and Elgin, until we reached Inverness and then drove down the shores of Loch Ness and Loch Lochy, stopping in Fort William to grab some lunch. I wish we'd had more time there, actually; I loved seeing the ships in the port. However, we needed to get home for the kids so we didn't hang about.

We only stopped once more and that was at a small car park overlooking Loch Tulla. The combination of the view and the light was incredible and I fear I'm not a good enough photographer to have done it justice. (This is not false modesty; it was much more beautiful than it looks!).

I don't mean to make it sound rushed, it wasn't. We had a lovely leisurely drive south and we did get back bang on time for the kids :-)
