Kinlochleven

This is the site of the former aluminium smelter in the village. The hydro electric scheme built to power it remains in service and now exports to the grid. The power house building is behind me.
This was an unexpected site day. Low snow and eroded tracks deterred me from gaining any height in my car and we took access to the survey site, a thousand feet higher, from sea level on foot. I did more climbing today than I would have done on an ascent of Bohuntin Hill but his was much less fun, and on a pretty unpleasant day. 
The old industrial looking building is a retained structure from the smelter now refurbished and home to the Ice Factor. Its a sort of ice climbing adventure centre. I have never paid a visit.
