A hint of sunshine (Day 590)

Storm Barbara has arrived. I was lucky on the morning dog walk to miss the heavy showers.
Later, driving to work, the heavens opened and it became quite tricky to keep the van on the road. I was working in a semi-derelict cottage that someone has bought with the intention of doing up. She moved up 2 days ago and is living in a caravan until her cottage is ready. This is her second time in Orkney. The weather was utterly vile, as I worked outside trying to find the incoming water main, and capping off a few pipes. It seems that someone else has been at the water supply before me and there is no supply to the cottage. Christmas in a caravan relying on neighbours for water may not be a lot of fun.
I was home in time for a quick lunch before my beautiful wife and I took the dogs off to Wasdale for a walk. Surprisingly we didn't get soaked and the sun came out briefly.
