Beech woodwart
Not a seasonal blip but the only thing of interest from our morning walk in the woods. Beech woodwart fungus starts off as brick-red blobs and ends up a hard black cinder-like crust. There is another fungus in this image - looks like an amber jelly - but I can't identify it.
