A relaxing day after a week of intense driving and sightseeing. Well not that relaxing, my father at 79+ gave us no special treatment as he led us up and down the very long steep banks of the Tees around Middleton One Row. He was certainly faster than we were.

Dinner out in the evening, an Indian restaurant in Darlington. Now my father is quite well versed in Indian Cooking. He spent around four years during WWII attached to the Royal Indian Army in India and Burma and after that nearly 30 years in Trinidad where a very large proportion of the community was Indian and Indian food was a part of life. Angie, on the other hand, has no or very little idea about Indian food but because of her Balkan/Hungarian forefathers, was raised on quite hot food. When the menu appeared she said she wanted something hot and chose a Vindaloo dish. My father said she shouldn't, it would be too hot. No, No, it's fine, I like it hot. The waiter came and Angie ordered. "No, madam you don't want the Vindaloo it is very hot" No, No that's fine, "But madam it is very very hot". No, it will be fine. Needless to say, 90% of her meal was not eaten! We all had a good laugh.
