Kraft-works
With this heatwave, we have compulsory indoors time for the kids. So, you give them paper, scissors and suggest they turn off the TV for a bit, and this is what you get. Katherine gets a craft book off the shelf and teaches herself how to make paper lanterns. Conor cuts his best approximation of a gun shape out of school paper. Repeatedly.
Meanwhile, Mr B worked, handed shirts over for ironing and then left to bring home the bacon. Happily, the family second car worked - meaning I am left in the very hot country with the car that has sort-of air conditioning, rather than the one that just has windows.
There was shopping, baking, dinner, chatting with neighbours (apparently the Olypmic opening ceremony went down very well here - and the commentators gave a full briefing on all the history/politics being dealt with. All in all - despite the aberation of GB being so darned good at cycling - it seems to have been a popular Olympics here.) Oh, I think I lost my sentence there. Anyway, off tomorrow to Castres to stay with friends. The ones we normally just allow ourselves to be persuaded to stay with. But this is all planned so there will be toothbrushes, contact lens fluid and spare pants and everything. And hopefully lots of baked goodies if I manage to get up early enough. Though I am feeling a bit guilty. The neighbour who looked after our plants the whole time we were away is now away until Saturday. So I'm looking after her plants in return. Only now I'm skipping out for one evening, which seems a bit rubbish when she did a whole month of watering...
