Fringing In The Darkness, Aylesford

I was completely stuck for an image to shoot today and then I spotted this old lampshade left rather unloved by my back door. Strangely, I cannot remember this ever being attached to a lamp in my house or how it got to the back door or how the rips were caused. I love it's very retro look but when I took it outside in the darkness it looked almost sinister and when turned upside down and shot with flash in the inky blackness it looked distinctly creepy. I'm fascinated how objects in a certain light or seen in a certain way can take on a completely different quality, they can become imbued with a feeling or emotion. This had a strange nightmare feel to it - a sense of foreboding.
