Fountain in Derby Arboretum
I was working in Derby again today and found time for a lunchtime walk to Derby Arboretum which I discovered only recently. I first featured it in a blip on 30th July.
The arboretum is a fascinating place. Today's image is of a fountain in the arboretum. Designed in 1845, the lower basin is the original but the stem above is a replica. The fountain was intended as a focal point of the park.
In the background you can see one of two "shelters" in the park. I put that in quotes because neither ever had a roof, seats or windows - they were designed as features to focus the eye within the confines of the Arboretum .
