Winter

"In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer."
Albert Camus

I saw these at the roadside while driving to town - also keeping an eye on my speed because this stretch is a favourite with the speed camera van.  I knew I just had to photograph them, and a few days later made a special trip to town, stopping on the way at the overspill car park about a hundred yards uphill from them.  I've been spotted over the years on several occasions, lurking by the roadside photographing things.  Months later people have approached me with the opener "was that you I saw...".  A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare [W H Davies].
