Tree of life
I have been having a bit of a dilemma to share or not share pictures of Arthur. Do we share too much? The world is a different place to when I grew up. We now live in the social media age and it's natural for me to want to share. I think it's up to me to decide what is appropriate to share and as he grows to teach him about consent at which point he should have a say.
Sharing builds relationships, we are now more connected and yet isolated than ever before. Sharing means that my uncle in America can see him grow, that my best friend who lives miles away can share in my joy, that I can access advice and support.
Another element to sharing is telling my or rather our story. I've always been vocal about being disabled through illness, educating others that not all disabilities are visible, it also helps to remove some of the isolation and promotes learning. Well I think normalising breastfeeding is just as important. We have such low feeding rates in this country and fear around public perception and feeding in public, that I feel it's important for people to see its normal.
So I have decided that I am proud of my little mouse and the journey we've already taken and I am looking towards to the journey yet to come and being able to share that journey, the continued narrative of me.
