Town Square

The town square at Romsey stands out because of its architecture, dominated by the Victorian Town Hall.
The town council has an ambitious plan to enhance the town centre and with the first phase of the work already completed, the next stage promises more improvements
Hampshire County Council has given the go ahead for £820,000 of enhancements to the town centre with the idea of  creating an area that is pedestrian-friendly and improves safety - while complementing its historic character and promoting the town's economic prospects
This work will be the second phase of improvement works to be undertaken in the centre. It will enhance Bell Street, from the junction with Middlebridge Street to just south of the Market Place, with Market Place as the proposed third phase, to follow in 2018.

The idea is to  provide a fresh looking town centre that will be easier for pedestrians while in keeping with the town's historic character. The local authority says the enhancements will also support the future vitality of this thriving market town.
