Outline

Tonight I finished reading Rachel Cusk's Outline. I hadn't expected to enjoy it. There was something about the coolness of her prose, she seemed somehow detached from her characters. But I ended up loving it, she actually managed to draw me into all the conversations. And I quite liked how at the end she gives a clue as to why the novel is called "Outline":

While he talked she began to see herself as a shape, an outline, with all the detail filled in around it while the shape itself remained blank. Yet this shape, even while its content remained unknown, gave her, for the first time since the incident,, a sense of who she now was.
