Renaissance Christmas

After morning service, with a scratch nativity play, we attended the Edinburgh Renaissance Band Christmas Party at the Reid Concert Hall, which the audience joined in singing several choruses.

We could recognise most of the instruments in use but this one resembling a tall candlestick, being played by the director, Murray Campbell, we were at a loss to identify - nor did he enlighten us.

But we enjoyed the variety of music, the versatility of the band members and the refreshments of mulled fruit juice and mince pies afterwards, which set us up nicely for the carol service at church in the evening.
