Wolfgangsee - Lake Wolfgang
The girls and I went on a bus trip to Lake Wolfgang which is a resort area not far from Salzburg. It is located in the Salzkammergut which translates as the Estate of the salt chambers, the area where the Imperial salt mines were.
It was a glorious day - cold but sunny. We went to Strobl on the lake and took the boat across to the other side to St Wolfgang. After a leisurely Italian lunch we took the cog wheel steam train to a lookout over the lake. A fabulous view but we only had about 15 minutes to look around then ride back sown again. We had a couple of hours to explore the village and the Advent market before heading home again, We needed a hot punch to warm up before we left as it was extremely chilly when the sun went down, although the lights were gorgeous. This area is renowned for having the nicest Christmas markets and some of the best scenery and it certainly lived up to the reputation.
I couldn't decide what to post but I loved the cold wintry light in this photo. I have added a selection of the many photos in Flikr if you would like to see more.
