10.30: Shall we put the tree up?
10.40: That's it done!
We bought this little tree from Ikea a few years back and it fits in well with our lifestyle. It packs flat (of course!), is about 15 inches high and the decorations are a couple of shiny necklaces and a few pairs of earrings. The lights are a new addition this year, brought from Barcelona, and the chicken and 'dona' we're happy to move along the shelf and into position. Voila!

For as long as we can remember Bradesco Bank has sponsored the huge, spectacular Rio Christmas tree that took pride of place on the lake here. The Cariocas (people of Rio) and tourists alike flocked to admire it and I'm sure for many it marked the start of the festive season. This year Bradesco chose not to sponsor it, so this year no tree. Perhaps it spent too much on the Olympic Games. I'm surprised though that no-one else offered to step in, save the day and get some good publicity into the bargain.
It's been pouring rain today and so we stayed in most of the day and both did some work. Bb did our Christmas letter and some coaching work and I did some online Christmas shopping and some Aptis online test marking.
Late dinner was the buffet in Siqueira Grill. Great selection of salad-y thinks accompanied by a little piece of 'picanha' meat.
