Mooning

I haven't even begun to master daytime photography so to attempt a moon shot is a big step but the thing just hung there in the black sky right outside my door -- how could I ignore it?  If I had wanted to stay outside in 23 degree weather I'd have fiddled with the camera more to see if I could get a better shot but it was COLD!

Speaking of cold, my extra is a not-so-good photo of my dedicated little hummie at his/her post guarding the feeder.  Against all odds and no matter the weather conditions, snow, cold, wind -- he/she never gives up.  Every time I looked out the window he was still there taking an occasional break to chase off an interloper who had designs on the feeder.  There would be a brief fuss, the interloper would fly off and the "enforcer" would return to his post, seemingly uninterested in eating, only guarding.   Only when it got dark and the feeder started to freeze did he leave so I could bring it inside.  Such amazing little creatures.  I don't know how they survive in these conditions.
