New Perch

It's so cold and windy today that I didn't even consider going out in search of birds.  Instead, I went bird watching from my kitchen window.  Last weekend I solved one of my backyard problems.  I don't have many trees around my bird feeders, which is good in keeping the squirrels away, but makes it difficult to get a photo of a perched bird.  So I stuck a big branch in an iron obelisk.  The birds love it.  I left this shot of a female Northern Cardinal a little dark, because I like the effect of the deep colors from the trees in the background.
