Last night the carol singers came

It's always such a pleasure to have the village carol singers arrive on our doorstep especially when we're not expecting them.  Ann joined in the singing while I quickly scouted round the house for a camera with a suitable lens attached.

The weather wasn't at all Christmassy yesterday - sunny and very mild so I thought I'd better take advantage and do a bit of garden tidying as we surely won't get more days like it before spring.  

Speaking to the solicitor when I went back in I got a shock to hear that the couple buying mum's house wanted to exchange/ complete (I got confused) on Tuesday of next week.  We'd had requests for a survey to be completed of the septic tank in the garden, so I really wasn't expecting anything to happen so quickly (in fact I thought we were going to be back into a bargaining position).  A phone call to the Pontefract Hospice furniture store moved us on a little further as they will collect the `good' items of furniture next Tuesday afternoon, though I had less success contacting the council about taking away the remaining large items, so will try again today.  I have to say that it will be good to get this phase over with and move on.  I can see we are going to have quite a busy few days ahead, though we have some Christmas arrangements that we can't alter.

The last camera club session of the year last night - Christmas Fayre for the small select group who were there and a chance to see photos from a member of the club who doesn't usually share his landscape images.  He's very good and he took us from Lake Tekapo to the Cairngorm Mountains, to the crossing to Holy Island (with a few Whitby Goths thrown in for good measure).  I did a short session on Blipfoto but I'm not sure the people who might have taken it up were there last night.
