Pigs on a Stick

Tonight we overate at a wonderful once a year food extravaganza that fortunately takes place in the plaza one block from us. Great chefs from many regions of Oaxaca prepare delicious food that is unique to their area, and for 300 pesos, which is about $15 US at this time, it's all you can eat and drink (beer, wine, mezcal, soda, fresh fruit juices). It's impossible to even try a fraction of what's offered! Fresh flowers are on all the tables and hang from the rafters of the tents. 
People from Tuxtepec brought in sand and made a temporary BBQ area where they spent the day roasting pigs and chickens. 
The festivities were accompanied by live bands. Needless to say, this is our favorite event of the year! We knew to arrive early - the first extra shows the place before it was entirely full.
