Still smiling.....just!

Not quite the day we expected for our first day in Rio.  Our lack of internet wasn't just a glitch, but it had been cut off.  The last batch of mail hadn't been passed onto the lady who helps us with our affairs here and, as a result, two letters clearly marked 'very important' on the envelope hadn't been dealt with.  Long story, but with her and her daughter's help, we found out what the problem was and managed to pay the internet bill and also the electricity bill........as our electricity was about to be cut off too.  The problem now though is that our bank account has been suspended and we're not sure yet if it will be re-instated.  And all this for the grand total of 50 euros!   Dealing with this took the whole day.    We then bought sim cards for our wee mobiles that we use in Egypt and here and topped them up....another 90 minutes! 

After all that, we couldn't face the unpacking and so went for a walk along the front of Copacabana and had a bite to eat on the terrace of La Maison.   Not a bad end to an otherwise very frustrating day.  Just as well we love Brazil and Rio!!
