Tuesday: Alberni and Thurlow

Today was an odd day - a few days ago it was panning out to be very busy and then everything was cancelled, leaving me with a completely free day.

To be honest, cancelling one of the events was really poignant.  I was supposed to be hosting an event tonight with members of the Syrian Defence Force, the 'White Helmets' - if you don't know about them, you need to.  They are civilians in Syria who specialise in search and rescue following bombings - to get an idea of their lives, watch the Netflix film, 'The White Helmets'.  Anyway, several of their team were here in Canada, raising awareness of their work, but they had to cut short their stay to return to Aleppo and oversee the rescue and evacuation of civilians, meaning our event here in Vancouver had to be cancelled.  

Lunchtime street photography pales somewhat into insignificance.....
