Sankta Lucia

Saint Lucy's Day, also called the Feast of Saint Lucy, is a Christian feast day celebrated on 13 December in Advent, commemorating Saint Lucy, a 3rd-century martyr under the Diocletianic Persecution, who according to legend brought "food and aid to Christians hiding in the catacombs" using a candle-lit wreath to "light her way and leave her hands free to carry as much food as possible". It is mostly celebrated in the Scandinavian countries and has come to represent light in the dark winter months.

Today we had two Sankta Lucia performances from local churches. It was quite a surprise to see them at breakfast at our hotel. Their singing was quite beautiful and this young lady's crown had real candles on!
Then at 9am in the office there was another performance from a group. Their singing was slightly better but the H&S officer must have been involved this time as they only had electric/battery operated lights!
It was a lovely way to start the day and made us feel all Christmassy!

Apologies for the lack of commenting this week. I will try and catch up at the weekend if I can.
