Butterfly and Bougainvillea

I don't know what kind of butterfly, and I'm not sure the plant is bougainvillea. But I spent a long time chasing this creature - it had a definite preference for perching very high up and with its wings folded.  It was a lot bigger than the ones that flutter about around here.
