Goldfinch

While I can't get about much I've been trying out some different techniques. The recent shot of the Ornithogalum was done using focus bracketing (which I've used before), and then doing the stacking with both Photoshop and then with Affinity Photo (focus stacking has only just been introduced in Affinity Photo). There really is very little difference in the final result, but Affinity was rather slow to complete the operation (otherwise I find it a great, very cheap, alternative to PS for photographic work. Today's photo was taken using the E-M5ii tethered to the PC and using the Olympus Capture software. I've used tethering a few times with other cameras in the past, but the Olympus Capture software is excellent, and, unlike many other systems, it is FREE! I had quite a long wait before the goldfinches came to the nearest bird feeder, and it was a lot more comfortable to sit at a table with the computer and a large monitor than it would have been shooting directly on the camera (though there is a loss of speed at which you can shoot operating this way. Fortunately the goldfinches and chaffinches stay on the feeder for quite a while - unlike the tits and robins, which dash in, grab a seed and are off immediately.
The light was very poor when I took these photographs, so I had to use a much higher ISO than I would have preferred.
