Life through the lens...

By ValC

Another farewell.

Just having rest before we get changed for dinner.
This evening is our Wine Club Christmas tasting and dinner, at Rombalds Hotel, Ilkley.
Unfortunately after about 25 years, it will be our last visit as the hotel has been sold, and is being turned into apartments.
So this time we are staying over, and have treated ourselves to the Bronte Suite. ( actually it was the only room left as we had left it a bit late)

As usual we are having Yorkshire puddings with onion gravy to start with, and then carve yourself roast beef with roast potatoes, assorted seasonal vegetables, and yes, more Yorkshire Puddings if you want one.
Not sure what the sweet course will be. Sometimes bread and butter pudding, or apple crumble. ( served with plenty of custard)
Real Yorkshire food.

This year we are starting with champagne, and then having an Italian wine tasting before the meal.

As you can see the table settings and room always look lovely at Christmas.
We will be very sorry to see this place close down.

(At the moment I am listening to an owl hooting outside our bedroom.)
