Cockman House
Completed in 1860, this family home of three generations is a rare historic place of continuous residence by descendants of the original building.
It presents a pioneer story that began with James and Mary Ann Cockman at the beginning of the Swan River Colony.
In 1998 the last occupier of the Cockmans home handed the property over to the Wanneroo Shire, its now a heritage listed building.
The home was open to the public today for Christmas, we spent an enjoyable few hours wandering around the old house and vegetable gardens tended now by a group of volunteers, it was good to see so many people there, having picnics in the gardens and listening to a group of folk singers singing Christmas songs for the young ones and old ones alike.
