...these beautiful purple garlic bulbs were snuggling up in a little basket in the high street butcher shop.
Apparently there are two  categories of garlic, 'hardneck' and 'softneck' the former also known as purple garlic and there are hundreds of varieties within both groups.

We love it whole roasted whole with a medley of root vegetables but hey roasted purple garlic is also used in confectionery and ice cream recipes! How about a savoury 'frozen creme anglaise' to pile on mash, steamed veggies or a char grill.
Yummmm.
