Almonds III

So, almost six months on from when I last featured the almonds (February) around the Cortijo, they're now dry, and the trees are turning, many of their leaves now red and yellow.

The once soft green, downy hull has dried in the summer sun, cracked and peeled back to reveal the woody nut shell within.

They've come a long way since I first captured the almond blossom in January.

Soon will start the harvest. The almonds, still in their woody shell, but without their jackets are collected in sacks for sale to co-ops for processing or to local markets.
