Monochrome Set
Up earlyish start to beat those tides and get those mussels in the pail at the rocks at Achnacloich. Which we did! Then a short drive and walk over to Dunscaith Castle - though the walkway across the arch to the castle rock has fallen away so it was sadly inaccessible. The son regarded this with equanimity. As he wasn’t bothered about going anywhere near a stupid ruin anyway (I’m mind reading). There was a view over to the mountains beyond Loch Slapin, shrouded in cloud. That’ll do for some monochrome treatment, I did think.
Up to Broadford to get some victuals to make gritty mussels more appealing and back to read and relax. My relaxation however was compromised. The coos from the neighbouring field had broken into the garden. And furthermore, they refused to leave. Even holding a rake in one arm and a brush in the other, and using the son as some sort of collie, the stupid beasts ran past the gate and into bottom of the garden where they attempted to butt the fence down, so that wasn’t going to work. Eventually I gave up. Hours later, shining a torch into the garden after dark I could see their reflective eyes as they sat contentedly masticating away, enjoying the nice spongy lawn. Hopefully it’ll have time to recover before the tourist season begins.
