Lost Pilot?

We went down to Newhaven today as the sky was very heavy. Just arrived in time to see the Forth Ports Pilot boat turning and making a hasty exit towards Granton Harbour! There were no newly moored boats at Newhaven so I wonder if he took a wrong turning.
