Balfour Castle and the Dishan Tower

I headed up to the hide at RSPB Mill Dam where I saw hundreds of wigeon and teal, loads of mallard and ten shoveler. On to Vasa Loch where there were about 40 whooper swan, a couple of mute swan and about 8 red-breasted merganser. Along to the battery at Salt Ness where I made my coffee, then up to the road and along again to the hide. I saw a male hen harrier hunting, then a female (or juvenile) a few minutes later and got a distant shot of it. I think it might have been trying to flush snipe. I don't think they take ducks but the ducks were certainly nervous and there were great swooshes of sound as they left the water then settled again quickly.
