Christmas 1630

Went to the Geffrye Museum today to see all their period rooms decked out with tradional Christmas fare and decorations. This table is set with the second course, a mixture of savoury and sweet dishes. Sugar was an expensive luxury and the sweets are made in the shape of everyday foods such as bacon and eggs and walnuts. A really lovely museum to visit at this time of year.
